10.Yokozuna
Yokozuna was a Samoan American professional wrestler. He was best known for his time with the World Wrestling Federation. The term yokozuna refers to the highest rank in professional sumo wrestling in Japan. Although the Yokozuna character was portrayed as a champion sumo wrestler, he never competed as an actual sumotori. Though Yokozuna wrestled as a representative of Japan, in real life he was Samoan American. Standing at 6 foot 4 and weighing an immense 589 pounds, Yokozuna squashed legends like Bret Hart, The Undertaker and Hulk Hogan on his way to becoming one of the most dominant WWE Champions of all time. On October 23, 2000, Yokozuna died from pulmonary edema in his room in England while on an independent wrestling tour in Europe. He was a member of the Anoaʻi wrestling family: Roman Reigns, Rikishi, Umaga, and The Rock were just some of his cousins. Being very tall, and absolutely massive at nearly 600 pounds, there is no way Yokozuna was human, just like the r est of his family.

9.Sun Ming Ming
Sun Ming Ming is a Chinese basketball player. He currently stands at 7 foot 9 and weighs 370 pounds! Sun wears size 20 shoes and makes occasional appearances as an actor. In the summer of 2005, Sun discovered that he had a brain tumor attached to his pituitary gland. Because he had neither health insurance nor enough money to pay for the more than $100,000 in medical bills, his sports agent, Charles Bonsignore, started a fundraiser to raise the necessary money. The tumor was successfully removed on September 26, 2005. On March 11, 2007, Sun was a part of the tallest lineup in the world, a Guinness World Record, on the Maryland Nighthawks, with four players over 7 feet tall, including former NBA player Gheorghe Mureșan. Sun never made it to the NBA, but if he did he would have been the tallest person in the National Basketball Association history. Although he does not look like a monster, he is a limitless one, and frightens every person that stands in his path. Without d isbelief, it is safe to say he is not a human being at nearly 8 foot and 400 pounds!

8.Big Show
Big Show is an American professional wrestler. He is a feared competitor who intimidates opponents with his size and stare alone. Just like André the Giant, he used to have acromegaly, a disease of the endocrine system. On his 12th birthday, he was 6 foot 2, weighed 220 pounds, and had chest hair. Currently, he stands at an unbelievable 7 feet tall, weighs a massive 450 pounds, wears a huge 18 US size shoe, and has an incredible 64 inch chest. As a personal best, Big Show has bench pressed 500 pounds for an incredible 12 reps. In 2005, he flipped over a 4,400 pound Jeep. In 2010, he had his first major role in the comedy film Knucklehead based off of his colossal size. As of 2015, he has been wrestling for nearly 20 years. He underwent successful surgery in the early 1990s on his pituitary gland, which halted the progress of his condition. Big Show is not a human being, but rather a vicious beast!

7.The Great Khali
The Great Khali is an Indian professional wrestler, actor, and powerlifter. Although his parents are well in range of normal height, his grandfather was over 6 foot 6 inches tall. The Great Khali also has acromegaly that causes his facial deformities, as you can tell by his large brow, nose, chin, and ears. At 42 years old, he stands at a crazy 7 foot 1 and weighs 347 pounds! It is not clear what shoe size he wears, but in Bigg Boss Season 4 he had worn an enormous US size 22 shoe. In 2001, he even accidentally killed a guy, Brian Ong, after giving him a flapjack, a professional wrestling throw. In 2012, he underwent a brain surgery due to a tumor on his pituitary gland that prevented him from being able to stop growing. Even at his size, he still lifts weights two hours in the morning and two hours at night. As one of the biggest WWE superstars of all time, The Great Khali is definitely not human, but rather a giant savage!

6.Emmanuel Yarborough
Emmanuel Yarborough is an American amateur sumo wrestler and mixed martial arts competitor, also having competed in judo, wrestling, and American football. For more than two decades, he has taken on challenges that most would think impossible and consistently proven that he has the focus and determination to master any endeavor. At 6 feet 8 inches and at one time more than an insane 700 pounds, Emmanuel is in the Guinness Book of World Records as the largest professional athlete in the world. He wears a size 21 shoe. He was the 1995 World Amateur Sumo Champion and is considered to be one of the most famous sumo wrestlers outside Japan. He competed in UFC 3, a mixed martial arts competition, losing to the much smaller Daiju Takase, who was just 169 pounds in the Pride Fighting Championships. Three times the size of the average person, and ridiculously tall, this sumo wrestler has no proof he is a human being.

5.Jorge González
Jorge González was an Argentine basketball player and professional wrestler. He was best known for his appearances in World Championship Wrestling under the ring name El Gigante between 1989 and 1992 and in the World Wrestling Federation under the ring name Giant González in 1993. No Superstar in sports-entertainment history was as immense as Giant Gonzales. Not The Great Khali. Not Big Show. Not even the legendary Andre the Giant. He stood at a great 7 foot 6 and weighed 460 pounds! Gonzalez played the role of Manny, a carnival sideshow giant in a 1993 episode of Baywatch, who befriends Hobie, but later falls into the water and his large size makes it difficult to be rescued. He also had roles in the 1993 and 1994 Thunder in Paradise double-episode turned movies. In 1995, González officially retired from wrestling due to serious health issues. He returned home to Argentina permanently. On September 22, 2010, Jorge Gonzalez died due to complications of diabetes and sev ere heart issues, in his hometown of San Martin, Argentina. He was just 44 years old. During his lifetime he could not have been human, but most likely a giant animal!

4.Andre the Giant
Andre the Giant was a French professional wrestler and actor. He stood at a ridiculous 7 foot 4 and weighed in at an amazing 520 pounds! His size was a result of gigantism caused by excess growth hormone, which later resulted in acromegaly. This led to him to being called “The Eighth Wonder of the World.” As a child, he displayed symptoms of his gigantism very early, reaching a height of 6 foot 3 and a weight of 240 pounds at the age of just 12. That’s the size of a fully grown man, and he was not even a teenager yet! In 1987, Andre drew the biggest crowd in WWF history. A record 90,000 fans packed the Pontiac Silverdome in Detroit, Michigan to watch Andre wrestle Hall of Famer Hulk Hogan in the main event of WrestleMania III. For many years he was known as the “Uncrowned Champion,” until he found his place in infamy and held the WWF title for the shortest reign in history. Eventually his size was just too much for his heart, and he died in Paris in his hotel room on Janu ary 27, 1993. There is no way this guy was human, but rather a behemoth!

3.Väinö Myllyrinne
Väinö Myllyrinne was an acromegalic giant who was at one time the world’s tallest person. He stood at 7 foot 3 and weighed 434 pounds at the age of 21, but experienced a second phase of growth in his late thirties, attaining a height of a giant 8 foot 3! He is considered the tallest soldier ever, having served in the Finnish Defence Forces. He underwent his conscript training in 1929 in the Viipuri Heavy Artillery Regiment, and was very strong. In the 1930s, he traveled around Europe as a professional wrestler and circus performer. He returned to Finland in 1939 to serve in the Finnish Army during the Winter War. In 1946, he moved to Järvenpää and ran a chicken farm. He died in 1963 and is buried there. He had a 15.7 inch hand span, the greatest known. As tall, heavy, and strong as he was, it is nearly impossible to call this guy “human.”

2.John Rogan
John Rogan is one of 17 known people in medical history to reach a height of 8 feet or more and also the second tallest person ever recorded, after Robert Wadlow. Born in 1865, he began to grow very rapidly at the age of 13, leading to ankylosis. Already accustomed to walking only with the aid of crutches, by 1882, he could not stand or walk at all. By 1899, he had grown to a height of 8 foot 6! Despite his success in this regard, he declined all offers to join the carnival and sideshows. John Rogan’s hands measured 11 inches in length and his feet measured 13 inches in length! He continued to grow until his death, which was in 1905, at the age of just 40. The twist with John Rogan was that at nearly 9 feet tall, he was only 175 pounds! He was extremely skinny, but ludicrously tall! John was a gargantuan historic figure, and in no way at all human!

1.Robert Wadlow
Robert Wadlow is the tallest person in recorded history for whom there is irrefutable evidence. He reached an earth shattering 8 foot 11 and weighed a whopping 439 pounds at his death at age 22 on July 15, 1940! His great size and his continued growth in adulthood were due to hyperplasia of his pituitary gland, which results in an abnormally high level of human growth hormone. He showed no indication of an end to his growth even at the time of his death. His family claimed that Robert was taller than his father at age 8, and in elementary school they had to make a special desk for him due to his size. After graduating from Alton High School in 1936, he enrolled in Shurtleff College with the intention of studying law. By the time he had graduated from high school, he was 8 foot 4. Robert Wadlow’s size began to take its toll; he required leg braces to walk and had little feeling in his legs and feet. Despite these difficulties, Wadlow never used a wheelchair. According to t he Guinness World Records, he was a US size 37 shoe, a UK 36, and a European size 71. Robert’s incredible height and weight proves that he could not have possibly been human, but more like a walking Empire State Building!

Top 10 Amazing Towns On Cliff Tops

Top 10 Amazing Towns On Cliff Tops

What is it about building things on top of cliffs? Most of these towns have been around for centuries and assuming they didn’t have the sophisticated equipment we have today, how could they be sure the cliff wasn’t going to collapse under them? Couldn’t be. Mad. Religious maybe.
We are not talking about buildings that are somewhere near the edge of a cliff that is a few feet high, we’re talking about buildings pretty well over the edge of cliffs that are hundreds or thousands of feet high.
In most cases the reasoning was, ironically, safety from aggressors. Big cliffs are really hard to climb if there are people at the top throwing things at you.

10. Rocamadour, France
Rocamadour is a small town in south central France, just north of the wine town of Cahors. It is nestled into a gorge that drops down to the River Dordogne with various churches and religious buildings at the top of the gorge.
The World Heritage listed site has a long, rich history and stunning vistas from the various walks you can do around the gorge.

9. Tiger’s Nest Monastery, Bhutan
Paro Taktsang, better known as the Tiger’s Nest Monastery, is one of the best known cliff top dwellings in the world. Although it’s not a town as such, we are accepting it as an occupied temple complex and sacred Buddhist site.
The Tiger’s Nest was built in 1692. It sits 900 metres (3,000 ft) above the Paro Valley in Bhutan at an altitude of over 3,000 metres (10,000 ft).
As far as spectacular cliff top buildings go, this is an incredible number 9.

8. Castellfollit de la Roca, Spain
Castellfollit de la Roca is a gorgeous little village in Catalonia, 100 kms north of Barcelona in north eastern Spain. It is set on the top of a spectacular basalt rock structure created eons ago by lava flows and shaped by the rivers Fluvia and Toronell that join here.
The old town itself dates back to the Middle Ages. It runs along the length of the basalt crag between the two rivers with the famous Sant Salvador church at the point and volcanic rock houses sitting high atop the cliff.
One of the most photographed places in Spain and a beautiful town on top of a cliff.

7. Positano, Italy
Positano is one of Italy’s most famous seaside tourist towns, its beautiful lanes and buildings tumbling down the hills of the Amalfi coast a short drive south of Naples.
Fishing has always been a big part of the culture here and in medieval times it was a busy and prosperous trading port. For the first half of the 1900’s it was a poor area but tourism picked up after John Steinbeck wrote about Positano in Harper’s Bazaar in 1953.
The cliffs here are less dramatic than other entries but the cliffs and mountains in the hinterland are substantial. A simply gorgeous town on a cliff top.

6. Manarola, Italy
The Cinque Terre is a stunning, rugged, World Heritage listed section of coastline in the north west of Italy; the Italian Riviera. Five famous villages nestle into the steep sided hills and cliffs of this coast, the oldest of which, Manarola, dates back to the early 1300’s.
Manarola has traditionally been a fishing village and the area has long had a strong connection with wine. What better background for tourism which is now an equally important industry for the Manarolaons?
The village itself is colorful and quaint, sitting atop a high headland and small boat harbour. There are plenty of walks around the town and also along the Cinque Terre. A picture perfect town on a cliff top.

5. Ronda, Spain
Ronda is a small town in the southern Spanish province of Malaga, about 75 kms north of Gibraltar. It is one of the regions main tourist towns, famous for the El Tajo gorge that takes the Guadalevin river through its center and the Puente Nuevo ’new’ bridge that spans the gorge. It is also recognized as the birthplace of bull fighting.
The town dates back to pre Roman times, passing through the hands of the Romans, Moors and Christians over the last few thousand years. Its fortified position on the El Tajo gorge made it an important strategic location so the buildings and infrastructure in the area have been maintained and added to over the years.
A beautiful, historic town with buildings on a cliff top that are a very special sight.

4. Varlaam Monastery, Greece
Meteora (“suspended in the air”) is a World Heritage Listed region of Thessaly in the middle of Greece famous for the six Monasteries that sit atop rock sandstone towers that dot the area.
The Varlaam Monastery was established in the mid 1300’s when the monk Varlaam climbed to the top of the rock and settled there, building three churches and a place to sleep. Unfortunately no one else wanted to live up on the rock with him and after Varlaam died the site went vacant.
More than 150 years later the brothers Theophanes and Nektarios Apsarades reestablished the monastery, renovating and extending the buildings that Varlaam had built. It took them 22 years to hoist everything they needed for the rebuilding to the top of the rock and only 20 days to put it all together.
Today Varlaam is occupied by seven monks and is one of the most visually stunning cliff top towns, or monasteries, in the world.

3. Bonifacio, Corsica (France)
The Old Town of Bonifacio is located at the southern tip of the Mediterranean island of Corsica and was founded as a fortress by Count Bonifacio of Tuscany in 828. The town has a beautiful natural harbour lined these days with cafes and hotels, and a marina full of the latest yachts. To the seaward side of the harbour is one of the most precariously placed cliff top villages in the world.
The white-limestone cliffs angle out as they rise from the sea, accentuating the precarious position of the three and four storey buildings at the top. It remains a marvel of building ingenuity that the original inhabitants could construct such a place.

2. Al Hajjarah, Yemen
Al Hajjarah is a small cliff top village west of Manakhah, half way between the Yemeni capital of Sana’a and the Red Sea. This amazing place dates from the 12th Century and represents some of the best Yemeni architecture you will find.
The fortified houses are constructed from huge blocks of stone that were quarried nearby and placed precisely without using mortar. The village has specially made granaries for food and cisterns for water so the inhabitants could survive long sieges of their cliff top home.
Like all these amazing places, the engineering know-how and construction capabilities of the people who built Al Hajjarah is something to behold.

1. Santorini, Greece
We’re going out on a limb here and picking a dark horse for top spot. Hold on, Santorini? Okay, it’s a very easy choice for the number 1 position. Amazing and stunningly beautiful, this incredible island is the result of a gigantic volcanic eruption that created the odd rectangular lagoon and the soaring cliffs over 3,000 years ago.
The capital of Santorini is Fira, a brilliant white-washed village with royal blue church domes, splashes of red, aqua infinity edge pools and purple frangipani that runs along the top of the 1,300 foot (400 metre) cliffs on the western edge of the island.
This is possibly the most photographed place in Greece and one of the most recognized sights anywhere.
Cliff top towns don’t get much more spectacular or beautiful than Fira, Santorini.
